Welcome to Lifeskills Plus

My name is Carolyn, and I have the privilege of heading an incredibly talented group of people devoted to providing the absolutely best support and care to our community members with a disability in Mudgee, Kandos, Rylstone, Gulgong and surrounding areas.

For over 26 years people with disabilities and their families have been able to count on the full support and professional services of Lifeskills Plus Inc.

2017 promises to be a year filled with exciting opportunities for people with disabilities in our area. The gradual roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme -NDIS- in our region starts on the 1st of July and will open a world of choices. Lifeskills Plus is NDIS ready to help all our clients achieve their individual goals.

We pride ourselves on being flexible, focused on individuals and always ‘going the extra mile’. Our staff are a well-trained, motivated and fun loving group that are eager to share their skills and interests with people. We are also lucky to have a great bunch of volunteers who freely give their time and valuable experience.

In June 2014 we started the development of our new Community Centre in 13 Oporto Road. Stage 1 was the creation of our respite facility and has been completed. Lifeskills Plus is now able to offer no less than four temporary respite beds in a wonderful relaxing environment with its own purpose-built respite garden and an interactive sensory garden.

Last year, thanks to some loyal supporters, local businesses and tradespeople, stage 2 development commenced with the completion of three new program rooms. This year will see the addition of a specially designed woodwork shop, meeting and training facilities, arts & crafts studio, therapeutic multi-sensory room and a large undercover area to accommodate clients and visitors with weatherproof access to the Community Centre.

By the middle of this year, our NSW Mid-West region will have a unique Community Centre that not only accommodates Lifeskills Plus’ disability services but will be accessible to the whole community for meetings, training, events and seminars. The therapeutic benefits of the sensory room can be accessed by everybody from pre-school to aged care.

We will keep you posted on the progress of these exciting developments on this web site and our popular Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/lifeskillsplus/
