About Us

We are a local, community-based, not- for-profit organisation, overseen by a Board of Directors who are qualified and experienced in financial, legal, business, and lived experience of disability.

Since 1991 Lifeskills+ has been providing first class services to people with disabilities in Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone, Kandos and surrounding villages. HDAA accredited for provision of services under NSW Disability Service Standards, we are also now registered NDIS providers.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are responsible for

  • Overseeing the financial management of the organisation
  • Ensuring Disability Service Standards, Work Health, and Safety legislation, and all other ongoing legal requirements are adhered to

Services

We deliver our services to one of the most vulnerable groups in our society and we uphold the highest ethical standards in our work with people with disabilities and their families. Each person and their family have input into their service and reviews of their service.

We provide services under NDIS, are funded by the government; brokered by other organisations; work closely with other agencies, and are supported by local businesses and community so transparency in all aspects of management and service delivery is a high priority.

Management

The responsibility for the smooth operation of our organisation lies with our CEO and a small management team who plan directly with clients, families/carers to gain direction for individual services. We have two staff members who work with families to support them understand, plan and transition to the NDIS.

Training & Support

Lifeskills Plus invests in the training and support of our paid Support Workers who daily provide direct care support to our clients. They are the guardians of the quality of our service. This quality is measured and scrutinised by 3rd party audits to ensure impartial outcomes and guarantee continuous quality improvement. (HDAA accreditation)

Direct Care Volunteers maintain a valued role in our organisation providing skills and support in a variety of activities such as music, art, sewing, swimming, horticulture, woodwork, community, and transport.

At Lifeskills Plus we pride ourselves on having a huge amount of support both from local community members and local businesses. We also have strong cooperation with other community organisations. This allows us to focus on true inclusion for all people with disabilities in our local communities. Many are the businesses that help us with sponsorships and many are the ones that open their doors to our clients for work experiences and employment.

Facilities

We completed the building works of our Lifeskills Plus Community Centre which we have been able to achieve with the invaluable support of Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, local businesses, and sponsors. The purpose-built and designed centre provides wonderful resources to assist with the implementation of programs (Cooking, IT, Gardens Program rooms, Sensory Room, and a four-bedroom respite centre).
